A mate of mine is about the buy his first smartphone and is contemplating buying the new Blackberry Z10. The new RIM handset seems to be getting excellent reviews and looks to be an excellent piece of hardware, but I'm just wondering if he will have problems finding quality apps for it? He's a big sports nut like me, with a particular interest in football, golf and basketball. Is there the same range of bookmaker, odds comparison, live streams and news apps available for the Blackberry Z10 as there is for the iPhone or Android operating systems?
Virtually all of the big online bookmakers offer mobile sites as well as native apps so he shouldn't have any problems when it comes to sports betting. I haven't used a Z10 but I'd image if he browses to any of the online bookmakers websites, he should be redirected towards their web apps.
I use Siri quiet a bit now for sports fixtures, results, stats and betting odds. Even though most of the bookmaker apps should work fine on the Z10, I'd really miss having a personal assistant to answer my sports questions. We've tested most of the top European and U.S. bookmaker apps on BlackBerry devices and here would be our recommendations. USA BLACKBERRY BETTING BOVADA USA - WWW.BOVADA.LV These guys started out about 6 years ago as a US facing online poker rooms and they've gone from strength to strength every since. They've developed by far the best designed sports betting apps for United States citizens. Admittedly most US sportsbooks have invested very little on their web apps so they haven't got a huge amount of competition but it is still impressive and compares favorably to many of the larger European bookmaker apps. As you'd expect, the focus is on the US marketplace (NFL, NHL, NBA etc) although every major global sport and league is covered. Bodog Sports are also the only proper racebook app for those interested in horse racing. Odds are offered from every racetrack in the US and also some UK/Irish racecourses. Bovada Mobile is a web app so there is no download and it works on virtually any mobile device, including iPhone, Androids and Windows Phones. Read our full review here. TOP EUROPEAN/AUSTRALIAN BET365 BLACKBERRY - WWW.BET365.COM You will not see any Bet 365 betting shops on your high-street but these guys have still managed to become the largest online betting company in the world. Rather than focusing on bricks and mortar betting operations, they've instead focus on the future by investing heavily in both their website and mobile apps. With customers in over 190 different countries, these guys have every possible sports betting market covered. Everyone with a funded account can also watch a wide variety of live sports on their mobile devices for free, including soccer, football, golf, NBA basketball, tennis and more. Their web app for BlackBerry devices looks and functions in exactly the same way as their iOS and Android apps. You can read our comprehensive Bet365 mobile review here.
while your friend is a sports fanatic I'm sure there will be times when he, his wife or children will want to download some other kind of app. he should remember that there are currently over 700,000 apps in both the App Store and Google Play, while blackberry's marketplace only has about 100,000. i've heard good things about the blackberry's new piece of hardware but it needs the apps to back it up to become a great phone.
Yes you can now load Android apps on the Blackberry Z10, Blackberry Q10 or PlayBook. You will need to change a few setting on your phone first but this video will take you through the process. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hD8cpeolQcU
The latest results from RIM don't look too promising and I've read that there are now more active Windows Phone devices so things aren't looking great for Blackberry :-(
Things are starting to look extremely bleak for Blackberry so I would advice your friend to be careful. The Z10 and Q10 launches have been a complete disaster and their CEO seems to think tablets are just a fad which shows just how out of touch the company is. My guess is they'll be bankrupt within a couple of years.
I think Blackberry have all but thrown in the towel. I'd be cautious about buying one of their devices during this time of uncertainty. Particularly now that Windows Phone has overtaken it to become the third most popular mobile OS, following Android and iOS http://www.wpcentral.com/its-official-windows-phone-third-most-popular-smartphone-os
Thanks, I gave the Carbon app a try on my BlackBerry app and I was impressed. The Bovada betting apps works pretty good too but Carbon's app does look more like something produced by one of the big european gambling companies. The biggest thing missing from other U.S. betting apps is a proper horse racing section. Given how big horse racing in the USA it seems ludicrous that none of the other sportsbooks haven't integrated a proper racebook into their mobile sites. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the Carbon app has a casino section and you can even play real money Texas Hold'em on your phone. Nice
anyone know if the Carbon Poker app will work on BlackBerry? it would be nice if I could play a few hands of omaha or hold'em on the go.

If you live in the United States can you play real money poker using the Carbon app? I must have tried to download at least 10 different texas hold'em apps over the past couple of years but none of them would allow me to lodge money and play cash games.
Yes you can play real money Texas Hold'em ring games and Sit & Go tournaments on your BlackBerry using the CarbonPoker app. It's browser based so you'll need now of the newer BlackBerry's with touch screens like the Z30. You can find more information in your poker section http://www.iphonebettingapps.com/poker.html
According to Paddy Powers support section, they are no longer able to put their dedicated BlackBerry betting app in the BlackBerry App World marketplace. They now only support a web app for BB devices and recommend BlackBerry users browse to their website and save the web app as a shortcut on their home screen.
Yes most bitcoin bookmakers will work on any touchscreen blackberry or windows phone lumia device as they are web-based. Here is a list of the top 3 bitcoin mobile sports betting apps.
