i occasionally place bets online at Bet365 (or BetVictor if the odds are better) and i would like to know are the odds offered from iphone apps the same as the odds offered from the main website. also is there any delay in the odds being updated on the iphone app?
Hi Cahill We haven't tested every single sports betting apps out there but we can tell you that in general the odds available from sportsbook apps are genearally identical to the odds you would find their main websites. Modern betting apps offer live in-running betting so the odds need to be kept as up-to-date as possible. Sebastian
The odds offered via the apps are the same as website but sometimes you may need to refresh the app in order to see the latest odds. The more sophisticated apps from European bookmakers like Bet365 auto refresh so you should automatically always see the latest odds on those but if you are using some of the U.S. sportsbook apps like JustBet you may need to hit the refresh button. Here is what JustBet say on their FAQ "since the application uses a web interface, you will need to refresh the screen by clicking the circle in the top right corner to update the screen"
In my experience they've the mobile apps have always displayed the same odds as the online bookmaker odds but that doesn't mean I don't check occasionally. You can't be too careful, particularly if you are putting on a sizeable bet and you haven't used the a particular sports betting app before.
I mostly use the Paddy Power app and the odds available on my iPhone have always been identical to those offered online. Paddy Power quiet regularly offer good money back specials exclusively to anyone placing a bet via their mobile app so it's often advantageous to use your phone even if you're sitting at your P.C.
William Hill are running an exclusive horse racing promotion now that will guarantee you better odds if you place your bet via a mobile device. If the horse you back wins by more than 10 lengths they'll increase your winning by 10%, if the horse wins by more than 20 lengths you'll get an additional 20%. Other bookmakers have similar types of promotions so I would argue that you can get slightly better odds if you use bookmaker apps rather than betting shops or websites.
Some mobile bookmakers like Bet-365 and Carbon Sports will also double the first bet you place from any mobile device so it's worth having at least one punt via these apps.
what i find useful is the betting alerts that let you know about the latest promotions and offers. you can setup your paddy power notifications to send you a message if they are running any special betting promotion that might interest you, whether that be a premier league free bet or a horse racing money back special.
Most bookmaker now offer enhanced betting odds if you place your bet from a phone or tablet. Obviously these enhanced are only available on a select number of markets every day so you need to keep your eyes peeled.
some mobile sportsbooks now allow you to setup push notifications that will alert when they are running a special promotion or betting offer.
Australian sportsbook, Sportsbet, recently added a pretty cool new feature called Power Play to both their iOS and Android apps. With Power Play you get to boost the odds you receive on 1 greyhound or horse race each day. The Power Play button is only available on smartphones, which proves once again that mobile punters get a better deal.
