Although the iPad version of the popular mobile poker game was released at the start of the summer, the iPhone version has only arrived this week. 888 poker players in the United Kingdom can now download the app. Like the iPad version, the iPhone app features Texas Hold’em No-Limit, Fixed-Limit and Pot-Limit cash games as well as SNG tournaments. And remember, new players at 888 receive a very generous $8 NO DEPOSIT bonus.
Any idea when it will be available outside the United Kingdom? The iPad version can be downloaded from Russia, the Republic of Ireland, Sweden, Germany etc. so it seems pretty odd that the 888 iphone app is only available in the UK.
Hey Bubba, I think the iPhone version is now available in the following countries Canada, Australia, Germany, Ukraine, Sweden, Vietnam, Russian, Romania, Ireland, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Belarus and Czech Republic.
Unfortunately, the 888 poker app has been removed from the Australian App Store in an effort by the Australian to ban mobile gambling.
Does this only affect players who haven't installed the app already? Will they be able to disable users who already have the apps installed on their iPad or iPhone?
If you already have the app installed on your iOS phone or tablet then you can continue to play in Australia. The app is currently available in the following countries: United Kingdom, Ireland, Greece, Romania, Portugal, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Finland, Slovakia, Russia, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Slovenia, Malta, Hungary, Poland, Cyprus, Lithuania and Latvia.
It should also be noted that 888 now offer MTT's. They are one of the few real money apps to offer both Sit N Go and Multi-table tournaments on mobile devices. New players in the United Kingdom get £12 to try at the real money tables for free when they sign-up. Users from other countries get $8 absolutely free.
One of the biggest disadvantages of native iPhone poker apps is that they are only available for download from the App Store in a limited number of countries. To circumvent Apple's gambling restrictions, 888 have developed a web app that can be played from the Safari browser of your iPhone or iPad, without having to install any software. The new "Instant Play" web app can be accessed by browsing to 888 on your Apple phone or table (not available in the USA).
The 888poker web-app works pretty good on my iPhone 6L. I wish more poker rooms would offer web-based poker software so iOS players from anywhere in the world can play on their phones. PartyPoker really need to get their act together and release a HTML5 version of their app.
