Australian Senator, Dr Richard Di Natale, is calling on Apple and the federal government to remove the PokerStars iPhone and iPad poker apps from the Australian App Store. The senator argues that since online gambling is illegal in Australia, Apple have an obligation to remove the PokerStars app. The PokerStars app is available as both a real-money and play for fun app. Although users are not permitted to deposit funds to their accounts via the app, they can login online and deposit funds, which will allow them to play cash games on their iOS device. The PokerStars app is currently available in every country except the United States.
It looks like that Senator got this wish. The PokerStars and 888 apps have been removed from the iTunes App Store and Google Play in Australia http://forums.iphonebettingapps.com...ps-Other-Australian-friendly-alternative-apps What a bummer. At least there are still plenty of browser based real money poker games available.
Yes, Australian authorities have cracked how hard on real money gambling apps in the Australian iTunes App Store. Thankfully, there are a bunch of other real money apps that are web based, which can be played in Australia. Visit our poker page for full details http://www.iphonebettingapps.com/poker.html
i read recently that the swedish government has done something equally stupid. they asked apple to remove all gambling apps from the app store on itunes even though swedish poker/casino players and sports bettors can use html5 apps just as easily to gamble without having to download or install any software.
