A couple of weeks back The New Yorker ran this interesting article on why sports betting should be legalized in the United States. Here are some of the key points... Billions of dollars were wagered by United States citizens on the Super Bowl this month. It's an American pastime. Voters overwhelmingly approve sports betting in many States. Splitting the U.S. into betting and non-betting states is "completely irrational". Sports betting makes sports more popular and helps leagues. Prohibition doesn't work, it just makes criminals richer. Thankfully there are still a couple of reputable U.S. friendly sportsbooks where players from the United States can safely place a wager on basketball, football, baseball or hockey games. Check out our Betonline review for one great example.
Banning sports betting in the United States works just about as well as banning liquor did. Prohibition of any kind will never work in the USA. I've got loads of friends in American and they all bet regularly on sports via off shore bookmakers like BetOnline. People still going to gamble in the US, except now the government gets none of the badly needed taxes. Everything cent is just going off shore now. STUPID!!!
It seems to be one step forward and two steps back when it comes to sports betting in the United States. Things were looking up when Republican Governor Chris Christie recently signed a law that permitted sports betting in New Jersey in a bid to help the states casino and horse racing industries. Unfortunately, a US federal judge has now blocked this law stating that it violated the federal ban on sports betting in the USA. Thankfully there are a number of mobile sportsbooks that welcome US players. You can find a list in our sports betting section.
i can now play poker, gamble at a mobile casino and bet from my phone in the US so all these laws and restrictions are a waste of time. people are always going to find a way to do whatever they want to do.
it looks like drafkings and fanduel are about to get kicked out of new york so this magazine obviously doesn't have much influence.
Bitcoin sports betting is becoming increasingly popular in the United States. This will make it virtually impossible for the U.S. government to stop their citizens making deposits and withdrawals at poker rooms, casinos and sportsbooks.
