Holland is the latest country to ask Apple to remove real money gambling apps from the iTunes App Store. Last year Sweden forced apple to remove poker apps in a similar fashion. The gambling apps were removed by Apple following a request by the national regulatory body Kansspelautoriteit (KSA).

In total over 50 different poker, casino and sports betting apps were removed because they deemed to be illegal by Kansspelautoriteit. Like many European countries, the Dutch state has a monopoly when it comes to online gambling. Legislation is being considered that would break up this monopoly and allow competition but it's not expected to go before parliament until 2017. Until then fans of major operators like PartyPoker and Unibet will be unable to download these apps from the App Store on iTunes.

  2. It looks like every European country is starting to remove real money gambling apps. I can see is they just want to protect their casino's but doing this is against fair competition. Dutch government need to think of other way to avoid this one and to create a win win solution.
