Will Bitcoins legalize online gambling in the United States

Newsweek recently ran an interesting article asking whether Bitcoin would make online poker, sports betting and casino gambling legal in the United States. A new poker room called Infiniti Poker have started accepting real money players from the United States who would like to fund their accounts using Bitcoins. Since Bitcoin users won't be using any United States banks, many believe that the operators or players won't doing anything illegal or wrong.

Now that Bitcoin poker rooms are starting to come on stream for United States players, surely it's only a matter of time before some U.S. friendly Bitcoin sportsbooks and casinos begin to appear.

The value of Bitcoin has really been affected since the Silk Road drugs market was closed by the FBI. I wonder will this put off U.S. gamblers who won't want to see the value of their deposits fluctuate.

I think fluctuations in Bitcoin value is always going to be a problem. Real money gamers will always opt to trade in regular currency given the choice, but unfortunately in the United States there are very few options for real money mobile poker or casino players. Until this situation is fixed we may say more of these Bitcoin only sites appearing to cater for U.S. players who are unable or do not want to risk funding their accounts using Visa or Mastercard.

I live in the United States and now play real money poker on my Samsung Galaxy Tab at the Seals With Clubs online poker room and there is absolutely nothing that the US authorities can do about it. I deposit fund using bitcoin, which is completely anonymous and the poker room do not have any of my personal information either. To open an account all I did was create a username.

As more and more internet gambling sites begin processing bitcoin payments, existing anti-gamblng laws in the US will become more and redundant and ludicrous.

Does anyone know of a real money Bitcoin poker app for either an iPhone or iPad device?

Yes, I think SwitchPoker now allow you to make withdrawals or deposits using the Bitcoin virtual currency.

BetOnline have become the first US facing bookmaker to add the Bitcoin crypto-currency as a payment option. If you live in the USA and you want to place a sports bet from the BetOnline website or mobile apps, you can now opt to deposit money or take out your winnings using Bitcoin. Here's more info on their app and how to install it http://www.iphonebettingapps.com/betonline-mobile-us.html

This CloudBet bitcoin sports betting app is probably the best bookmaker app available today. It accepts USA sports bettors and has a crazy high bet limit of 200 Bitcoin on the NFL and English Premier League soccer.

The BetCoin bookmaker app looks pretty good too but I think CloudBet have a wider range of betting markets and offer better betting odds.

A growing number of US friendly betting sites and poker rooms now accept bitcoin. Both Americas Cardroom and BetOnline now welcome bitcoin gamblers. It far easier for these offshore gambling sites to play their players with bitcoin than via bank wires or cheques.

It appears that the FanDuel and DraftKings have run into new problems following the announcement of their payment processor that they will cease working with fantasy gambling operators due to increased legal heat surrounding the companions. Many are wondering now whether Draft Kings and Fan Duel will follow WikiLeaks lead and start accepting bitcoin instead.

The good news is Bovada do not charge for deposits and withdrawals made with BTC so U.S. sports bettors save between 5% and 6%.

  14. I've noticed that my BTM's in the U.S. now ask for a scanned copy of your ID before you can purchase bitcoin. Is this so they can track and stop US citizens using BTC for gambling?

  15. I don't think bitcoin would be so accepted by others. Fluctuation of its value is a big factor sometimes it's high sometime its low. The only good thing to use bitcoin at casino is it's much faster to transact than any other payment system in the market.

The Russian government is currently drawing up legislation that would ban online gambling sites in Russia. What they don't seem to realise is that bitcoin can circumvent this type of legislation.
