Chaps, I'm planning to horse racing this weekend and need to transfer a sizeable chunk of money from my bank account to a mobile sportsbook before the weekend. I haven't done this before but most betting apps seem to suggest that it will take between 2 and 5 days. If it is 5 business days then the money may not arrive in my betting account in time for the weekend which would be a disaster.

Can anyone tell me which iphone betting app accepts bank transfers quickest? Also, what has been your experience with bank transfers? Do they normally take 5 days or does the money lodge into the account quicker?

I think it will depend largely on which country you and your bookmaker are based in. I've transferred money to Paddy Power a couple of times and it only took 2 days but that probably had a lot to do with the fact the both my bank and and theirs are based in Dublin. When I transfer money to bookmakers with bank accounts in the United Kingdom or Gibraltar then it can take 3 or 4 days.

If you want to transfer money to a U.S. friendly sportsbook like BetOnline which operate offshore then it could take from 4-5 days although I'm not an expert on these type of operations.

    Hope that helps :)

Thanks for your reply pesky. Just to give you an update, I ended up transferring money from my bank account in the United Kingdom on a Wednesday and it was in my William Hill account by Friday morning ;)

Has anyone come across an online bookmaker that accepts Bitcoin? And how long does a bitcoin transfer normally take?

I've been looking for an online bookmaker that accepts Bitcoin all afternoon without luck. I've checked every major UK, Australian, Irish and European betting site but sadly Bitcoin isn't listed as a banking method on any of them (yet).

Bitcoin transfers are pretty instantaneous both for deposit and withdrawals. Most online bookmakers need about 2 or 3 days before they process a cash-out to my visa so I'd love if one of them started using Bitcoin.

Ladbrokes now offer a "Quick Registration" service to anyone with a PayPal account. If you are using a mobile device you can sign-up using your PayPal credentials in a couple of clicks and them make a deposit just as fast.

for me bank transfers from Ladbrokes and William Hill typically take 1 - 5 working days. to set-up bank transfer as a withdrawal method you will typically have to provide them with photo ID (drives license/passport) and a copy of a bank statement.

why do none of the major European and UK betting sites accept bitcoin?

Not yet. I think bitcoin still has an image problem so major internet sportsbooks are slow to associate themselves with it.

If you are a horse racing punter at BetOnline you will be happy to hear that the US racebook is now processing bitcoin deposits for free. In the beginning they tried to get away with charging their btc customers the same 6.5% fee that they charged to their Visa/Mastercard customers but they got a huge amount of complaints. The good news is they listened and removed it so if you want to find a good racebook app with fast and free banking then BetOnline is a great option.
