Poker players from the United States, last week Carbon Poker announced the imminent release of a U.S. friendly iPhone and iPad app.
has anyone played this yet? i really like the PC client but i've found the iphone version to be very slow and unstable. i am using an iphone 3gs so that might be the problem.
Since it's a 3D application I'd image it requires quiet a fast processor. I'm not sure if the iPhone 3GS would be up to the task which might explain why it's crashing. You are probably better off sticking with one of the other regular poker apps listed.
Any up-date on when this app will be released outside of the United Kingdom? It a shame that they've obviously put so much effort into developing this app, yet only one part of Europe can play it.
PKR have now released an Android version of their poker client that can be downloaded from pkr.com. The Android version is available in most countries except the United States, including England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Spain and other European countries. The app supports real money ring games and sit and go tournaments on most Android smartphones and tablets, including Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Note, HTC One, Sony Experia Z, Google Nexus and LG Nexus 4
According to this website http://www.iphonepokerapps.com/pkr-3-d-mobile.html the iPhone version is now available in Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom? Can anyone confirm if this is true? I can't find any details on the PKR website.
Hey Lizzy, yes you are correct. We contacted PKR and they confirmed that you can now download the PKR app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch from the iTunes app stores in the Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. Also, for a limited time they are offering a $5 NO DEPOSIT BONUS so you can try the iOS app for free. You don't even need to a credit card.
The PKR app is great but you would really need to love playing in 3D environments to bother downloading the 500Mb install file. If you've only got an 8 gigabyte iPhone this will take up quiet a lot of the hard-drive memory. I wish they'd release a "LITE" version that offered the same features but without all the life like avatars and high-definition graphics.
It looks like your prayers have been answered. PKR have just released a 2D version of their award winning poker client. Even though it doesn't offer three dimensional avatars and playing environments, it still lets you play Texas Hold'em ring games and Sit & Go tournaments for money. The install file is only 60MB as well so it won't eat up too much space on your iPhone. The latest version supports multi-tabling on up to 4 tables at once on iPad and Android tablets.
The problem wasn't just the file size with the full 3D version. It also required a lot of bandwidth just to play. If I was playing on a 4G network it used up my 1 Gig allowance it just a few hours. The 2D version is much more responsive and uses a lot less bandwidth.
No. The PKR 2D is a native app that needs to be downloaded from the App Store. Since the iOS app is only available in the handful of European countries, I wouldn't be surprised if PKR do release a HTML5 version that can be played on the iPhone in any country.
which countries specifically? since they a UK based poker room i'm guessing that you can download the app there but where else?
We contacted their customer support and right now the PKR iOS app for devices like the iPhone and iPad is available in Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. If you're an Android user you can play it in any country apart from the USA.
