Poker players in the state of Nevada will soon be able to play at the United States first legit real-money poker room. South Point Poker executives are expecting their online poker site to get the green light from state legislators before the end of the year (2012). Despite the poker room being restricted to Nevada residents, it is still seen as a positive developement, which may see other States following Nevada's lead by legislating for real-money poker.
Excellent news. It's about time some individual states took a stand against the central government . In the recent U.S. elections a number of states legalized marijuana despite the federal government taking a hard line stance against it. It's seems ludicrous that in 2013 you can legally buy drugs in many parts of the United States but you can't play Texas Hold'em.
I agree totally. I guess there must be a very well funded anti online gambling lobby in the United States. I'd image casinos and bricks and mortar bookmakers are fighting tooth and nail to make sure online gambling is never legalized in the USA.
Thankfully it appears the anti-gambling lobby are losing that battle. In the past couple of months we've had the first United States friendly real-money poker app that is compatible with both iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Windows phone mobile devices. The first iOS and Android compatible U.S. mobile casino has also been launched that offers U.S. gamblers the chance to play blackjack, roulette and slots on their smartphones. Hopefully this will open the flood gates and we'll see and whole range of new poker and casino games from United States citizens.
