Considering how many people now own a smartphone or tablet, we were surprised by the latest UK Gambling Commission Report which revealed that 2% less of the UK population participated in some form of gambling activity in 2013. We find this surprising due to the phenomenal growth of sports betting apps in the UK over the past couple of years. Whether you own an iPhone, Nokia Lumia or Samsung Galaxy, it has never been easier to get your bet on. It doesn't matter if you're stuck in traffic or having a drink with your mates in the pub, you can now bet on any sporting even with just a few clicks. Mobile casinos, lottery's and poker rooms are reported strong growth over the past year as more players make the move from online to mobile gambling.

Here are a few key points from the latest UK Gambling Commission study....
    • Gambling is more common with men. 60% of men gamble compared to 50% of women.
    • The UK National Lottery is the most popular form of gambling in the UK
    • The online gambling market grew from 11% in 2012 to 12% in 2013.
