I'm looking for a poker app that will allow me to play against a group of my friends. We are just learning to play Texas Hold'em so we would prefer to play against each other if that is possible.

    Thanks

EDITORS UPDATE: The new poker app from BetOnline allows you to create private tables on your phone or tablet. There are no restrictions on who can play. http://www.iphonebettingapps.com/betonline-poker-app-usa-players.html

Here are the best apps for playing against friends...

    BETONLINE POKER - WWW.BETONLINE.AG
    • This poker app allows you to create private tables so just you and your mates can have a relaxed few games of poker.
    • It is available in the United States, Europe, the UK, Canada, Asia and Latin America. The only country that is blocked is Australia.
    • If you prefer to use cryptocurrencies, you can deposit with Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum or Dash.
    • They also run regular freeroll tournaments which are a great way to practice without having to risk any of your own dollars or euros.
    • You can play instantly from the Safari or Chrome browser of your iPhone or Android device.

Thanks man. I think you may be right. I downloaded the Bwin app last night and there isn't any way to search for players or create private tables. I like the mFortune Texas Hold'em app but the micro-stakes tables aint that low so I guess we'll just have to keep looking.

You could continue using the free to play apps you're using and just substitute credits for cash. 1 credit would equal 1cent so if you all start off with 1,000 credit then you each put $10 in the pot. Whoever ends up with the most credits at the end gets the bulk of the pot.

You can try out Poker friends - perfect for playing with your friends since it lets you create turn-based tables, and that way you don't have to be online at the same time to play together. It also has some cool friend-based features like trash talking, revealing cards ETC.

mFortune Texas Hold'em is probably the best option because it is compatible with every type of phone and tablet so even if some of your friends are using old Nokia or Sony Ericsson phones, you'll still be able to play against them.

If you live in the United State then there is currently only one real money poker app open to you and your friends and that's www.Bovada.lv . They offer speed poker and regular Texas Hold'em cash games on any type of internet-enabled device. If you are using a BlackBerry or a Windows Phone you will need to download the Chrome browser app due to compatibility issues.

Does the Carbon Poker app for US players allow you to see your friends when you log-in to search for their usernames?

There isn't an option to search by player name at present although you can browse through the lobby to find your friends and take a seat at their table. All the tables have different names so finding a particular player will only take seconds if you know its name. I hate those apps that do not let you choose where you play and force you to randomly take a seat at a particular tablet. I always prefer to have a look at a few tables first to judge how tight the competition is before I take a seat.

The PKR iPhone poker app also allows users to search for their friends but unfortunately it is only available to download from the iTunes App Store if you live in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, France, Italy and the Netherlands. If you own a Samsung Galaxy, HTC or any other Android you can download the PKR app from their site in most countries (apart from the USA).

The Unibet tablet poker app is a lot of fun but right now it's not possible to search for other players by their aliases. Unibet want to ensure that beginner players are not targeted by more experienced players so they've deliberately not added this feature. In addition, for further keep your identify a secret and to make the playing experience more pleasurable for novice players, you can also change your name and avatar as often as you like so nobody will recognise you at the real-money tables.

BetOnline recently completed a massive upgrade of their poker client that now includes the ability to create private tables. Unfortunately, at the time of writing they only offer software for PC and Mac although mobile poker is expected to be available shortly.

The BetOnline poker app has been released and we are glad to report that it also allows you to create customised private tables so you can enjoy online poker nights with your friends.

Didn't BetOnline withdraw from Australia. Can you recommend any apps that are available to real money poker players in Australia?
