I read an article today that says Apple have finally legalized gambling apps in the USA. The Leroy's app is now allowed in the Apple Application Store and can be played by people living in Nevada. I found the app here in the US app store http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/leroys/id461213286?mt=8

Does this mean Apple will legalize gambling apps in more American States soon? I really hope so:rolleyes:

Hey Becky, I don't think it is really up to Apple whether mobile gambling apps are legal or not. They just closely follow whatever laws exist in certain countries or states. Apple tend to be very cautious when approving real money gambling apps of any kind. If the legality of online betting or mobile betting is even remotely in question in a particular country Apple will not approve an app in that jurisdiction.

Leroy's did manage to get their sports betting app listed in the App Store but that was because the Nevada Gaming Commission approved it first. It wasn't up to Apple whether mobile betting was legal in that state or not. Fingers crossed that gaming commissions in other countries will follow their lead.

What if I use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and connect my iPhone to a U.K. IP address, will I then be able to download poker apps like Bwin from the App Store?

I will be visiting Florida on a month long vacation during August and I am curious to know whether the sports betting apps on my iPhone will continue to work during the visit? I mainly use the BetVictor and Paddy Power apps.

    Hi Jack

The BetVictor will definitley still work in the US because it is a web apps so there is no geo location restrictions. If you are using the Paddy Power app from the App Store then that will only work in the United Kingdom and Ireland, so you won't be able to use it while you are in Florida.

The good news is that you can use the Paddy Power web app while you are on vacation. It looks and functions exactly the same as the App Store version. There is virtually no difference. All you need to do is visit paddypower.com on your iPhone.

No but there is currently a bill being considered in congress that would legalize online poker at a federal level. This means that any state could opt in to allow online poker in their state. The downside is the new bill comes down harder on all types of online or mobile casino operations.

U.S. Senators Dean Heller and Harry Reid have been working on this piece of legislation for a number of years now and are confident it will pass this year.

It is currently legal to use casino and poker apps in casinos in Atlantic City. The gaming tablets are issued by the casinos and can only be used with the casino perimeters. It's a small step but it's progress.

It's been over 2 years since that Leroy's app was listed in the Apple App Store and there have been very few other apps since. In New Jersey and Nevada you can download the 888 and PartyPoker apps but besides that there has been very little improvement. On a national level I can't see there being any real-money gambling apps in the US App Store in the next 10 years.

Thanks to HTML5 apps U.S. citizens can play poker and bet on horse racing and sports from their iPad or iPhone so does it really matter if gambling apps every appear in the iTunes App Store?

it's funny to watch major poker rooms like pokerstars and partypoker fight over the miniscule new jersey poker market while operators like bodog and carbonpoker are welcoming players from all parts of the united states to play poker using their web-apps.

Both FanDuel and DraftKings have been allowed to legally operate in the United States by taking advantage of a legal loophole that designates draft competitions as games of skill rather than gambling. As a result both of these companies apps appear in the Google Play and iPhone App Store. If poker was legally reclassified as a game of skill under US law these sites like PokerStars and Full Tilt would once again be abel to operate in the USA.

Gambling using bitcoin seems to be gaining traction in the United States of America. Bitcoin sportsbooks and poker rooms are reporting higher and higher traffic. Leading the charge is Nitrogen Sports who have quickly taken the lead when it comes to sports betting. The Nitrogen sportsbook app offers the best lines and covers the widest range of markets. They also offer Texas Hold'em poker games that can be played either online or from a smartphone http://forums.iphonebettingapps.com...iendly-bitcoin-poker-app-from-Nitrogen-Sports

I'm pretty sure they do. If you live in Australia you can download the Ladbrokes Apple Watch app. Sports punters in Europe and the UK can use the William Hill Apple Watch app.

  15. Apple has nothing to regarding legality of mobile gambling. They are just a mobile company who's business is to build and sell software and hardware. It is the job of the government to legalize it.
