An article I read here makes for some disturbing reading. A popular iphone poker app called Texas Poker (Texas Hold'em) has been leaking players details for the world to see. The problem occurs when players are playing on a non-encrypted WiFi connection which most of us will do in cafes, bars and restaurants from time to time. The developers of this game have not even taken to basic security precaution of encrypting the date. Shameful :( What makes it even more disturbing is that this app also allows players to purchase virtual chips so hackers may have been able to gain access to players credit card details.

I wonder if this is a one off or are there loads of other poker, blackjack, slots or roulette apps out there broadcasting our confidential information for everyone to see?

It seems that the problem isn't just restricted to ios apps. Free casino and poker apps on the Android platform pose far worse security concerns.

After reading that article I would be very slow to download any kind of free app to an Android tablet or smartphone. Scary stuff!!
