What's the best app to watch live streams of football (soccer) games on your phone?

Back in my Android days I used to use this football streaming app to watch games live on my phone or tablet. I was able to find streams from the Champions League, the Barclays English Premier League, FA Cup, Scottish Premier League, La Liga ,Copa del Rey,the Bundesliga and just about every other league imaginable.

I'm really happy to have made the switch to the iPhone but I haven't been able to find a comparable app for iOS devices that will allow me to watch football games for free. Can anyone recommend an iPhone equivalent?

I'm not sure there is an iPhone equivalent for that app. The best I've found is the ESPN Goals app for iOS. The app is free and it allows you to watch every goal from the Barclays Premier league on any iPhone, iPod or iPad. The apps also provides lives scores, fixtures, analysis, stats, news, weekend previews and round-ups. Not bad for a free app. Here it is https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/espn-goals/id385112425?mt=8

    EDITOR UPDATE

The following 3 bookmakers now stream live soccer games for free from Europe, South American and many other places.

    BET365 MOBILE - WWW.BET365.COM

Bet365 stream more sports via their website and mobile apps than any other bookie. Anyone with an account can watch European Champions League Qualifiers, Europa League, Copa Libertadores de América, Super Liga (Portugal), Russian Premier League, MLS, J League and the Super League from China amongst others.

SKY BET MOBILE - NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Sky Bet is part of Sky Broadcasting Company which owns Sky Sports so it seems only natural that they would broadcast some soccer games via their apps and website. If you sign-up with Sky Bet you can now watch about a dozen Spanish La Liga games every week on your tablet for free. Sky Bet stream every La Liga game that isn't being show on Sky Sports, including those featuring Barcelona, Real Madrid, Sevilla and Real Sociedad. Once again there is no requirement to place a bet in order to access the stream.

Is that app available outside the United Kingdom?

No, although the Premier League app is available for
iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone, it can only be used from the United Kingdom. Bummer.

SkyBet have recently started streaming Spanish La Liga games for free via their Android, iPhone, Windows Phone 8 (Nokia Lumia) and iPad apps. It is free to watch the games providing you have an account with Sky . You don't need to make a deposit and there is zero betting requirements.

The FilmOn app works on the iPhone and iPad and allows you to watch a couple of hundred terrestrial channels from the United Kingdom, Ireland, USA, France, Germany, Asia etc. for free. For instance, in the UK you can watch a live stream of ITV and BBC, which means you will be able to watch Champions League, World Cup and European Championship games from any iOS or Android phone or tablet for free.

Will any of these apps be streaming World Cup games live from Brazil? I'm travel a lot so I'd really like to be able to watch the England games even if I'm on the road somewhere.

I watched all the World Cup games using the BBC iPlayer app. I had to use a VPN (a SmartDNS service would work too) to get it to work outside the UK but the quality of the steams was excellent throughout the tournament.

And that's not all Ladbrokes stream. You can also watch live cricket matches, National Basketball Association (NBA) games and soccer leagues from Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay and a bunch of other South American countries.

Coral sports, another high-street bookmaker in the UK, have also now begun live sports via their iPhone app. http://www.iphonebettingapps.com/coral-mobile.html

This means that only major bookies now not live streaming sports are PaddyPower and William Hill.

are there any free app that show highlights or just the goals from the english premier league? most of the time i don't want to see entire games so it's not worth paying a sky sports sports subscription.

Every weekend the BBC broadcast a program called Match Of The Day that shows all the days goals from the Barclays Premier League. You should be able to watch that on your phone once you download the BBC iPlayer app from the UK iTunes App Store. However, you may need to use a VPN or SmartDNS service to get anyone any geo-restrictions.

Do any of the individual clubs have apps that only live stream their games? Can I download an official Liverpool or Chelsea app for example that will allow me to only watch their teams games?

No, I don't think you can simply buy a package that allows you to only watch games of the team you support. As far as I'm aware you need to buy a general Sky Sports package and watch whatever they show, although they have so many channels now that you can probably find one that is streaming your particular team.
