Gambling with bitcoin is becoming increasingly popular in the USA. Most of the major online sportsbooks, casinos and poker rooms like 5Dimes, Bovada and BetOnline now accept bitcoin as a banking option. Here's a quick guide on how to start using bitcoin in the United States.

    1. WHERE TO BUY BITCOIN

U.S. citizens can quickly create an account at either Circle.com or CoinBase.com. These are major US based bitcoin exchanges that are fully licensed and regulated in the US and they're super easy to set-up and use. Once your account is set-up you can then buy bitcoin using your bank account, credit card or debit card. After you've purchased your bitcoin they will appear in your Coinbase or Circle web wallets. Bitcoin.org is an excellent source for additional information on reliable and secure wallets and exchanges.

    2. CHOOSE YOUR BITCOIN GAMBLING SITE

You can now choose to use your newly purchased bitcoin at a conventional US-friendly internet sportsbook or at a bitcoin-only gambling site. Here are a couple of our suggestions in each category.

    BOVADA - WWW.BOVADA.LV

Bovada are one of the biggest and best known online sportsbooks, casinos and poker rooms for US citizens. You can now benefit from faster and cheaper deposits and withdrawals at Bovada thanks to bitcoin. Bovada also supports sports betting, poker and casino gaming on any iPhone or Android device. Bovada/Bodog have been servicing US players for over 10 years without issue.

    NITROGEN SPORTS - WWW.NITROGENSPORTS.EU

Nitrogen is the biggest bitcoin only gambling site in existence today. They support both online and mobile sports betting, casino gaming and real money poker. There is no KYC process at Nitrogen so it's super fast and easy to create an account. All you need to supply is a username/password to get started. You're not even required to provide an email address so it's perfect for those who'd prefer to gamble anonymously.

    3. MAKE YOUR BITCOIN DEPOSIT

When you visit the cashier section of the gambling site just select "Bitcoin" where you will be provided with a deposit address made up of 25 to 35 alpha numeric characters which will look something like this "1BvBMSEYstWetqGHn5Au4m3DSg7xJaNVN2"

Now simply copy this address back into the "Send" section of your CoinBase or Circle wallet from step 1 along with the amount and press "Send". Your bitcoin should now appear in your gambling account within a few second.

    I have a few questions...
    • How volatile is the price of bitcoin? Will I have to convert it straight back to dollars afters I've made a withdrawal?
    • Is sports betting with bitcoin legal in the United States?
    • How much do bitcoin sportsbooks charge to process bitcoin transactions?

Most of the time the price of bitcoin is pretty stable. Bitcoin friendly sportsbooks like Bovada convert your deposited BTC into dollars so even if the price of bitcoin is fluctuating it won't make any difference.

Bitcoin is considered to be a currency in most parts of the USA so gambling with BTC is the same as gambling with dollars.

Sites like CloudBet, Bovada, Nitrogen Sports and Americas Cardroom (poker) do not charge anything when you bank with BTC.

  5. I just tried to sign-up with Bovada to play at their poker room but it seems they no longer offer poker to U.S. players. Where can bitcoin poker players find a mobile poker room with high traffic now?

BetOnline were one of the few US sportsbooks charging a fee for BTC despots but thankfully they've removed it now.

Is Nitrogen Sports a legit website? I was warned about a lot of scams apparently going on with regards to bitcoins.
